What are core values?
Core values are fundamental principles that guide how an organisaiton behaves and functions. Below are the list of core values that we believe are crucial and common across different organisations:
Respect - This is an essential core value that is needed in an organisation as it builds trust, safety and a sense of belonging. Working in a company, one must be able to feel they are able to bring their whole selves to work without feeling sidelined because of their differences. Additionally, respect in a workplace will ensure that each employee feels valued for their achievements and milestones. This in turn nurtures a positive workplace allowing each employee to become motivated to perform their absolute best in their work.
Honesty - This is a key characteristic in a workplace because this represents the type of work culture at a workplace. Honesty is important in a workplace as it fosters a culture of self-accountability and responsibility. Nurturing a culture of honesty is crucial to ensure employees own up to their mistakes and take accountability. Additionally, iIt can also be beneficial when an employee is honest about the shortcomings of a company’s performance, this opinion can then be used to revamp and improve the company’s work environment.
Passion - Passion is an internal motivator, a following of one’s values, a regard of one’s intrinsic, unique desires. It’s an energy that comes from within – it is not forced on from without. It’s passion that keeps us up late learning the newest technology. Passion that impels us to evolve to provide service offerings our clients don’t even know they need yet. It’s passion that holds our standards high.Having a joy not just for the work itself but also the people around us, so that everyone can be bold, innovative, and creative.
Humility - Humility allows people to be open to the possibility of making a mistake. It’s an integral part of moral leadership. If you’re lacking in humility, you’re less likely to recognize the potential for errors or mistakes in your work or decisions.
Humility can moderate some of the potential ethical dangers inherent in the use of technology. A recognition of the ethical implications of decisions and a willingness to look for potential bias, errors or poor judgment can go a long way toward addressing these potential risks.
For leaders, humility can provide a balance to the self-serving behaviors that often drive them to be successful. Humble and modest leaders are willing to admit their mistakes, put aside their ego and empower others. And that makes them better, more successful moral leaders.
Integrity - Integrity is the quality of being honest, and having strong moral principles. An employee with integrity is trustworthy, responsible, hardworking and honest among other things. Consequently, integrity is an admirable and favourable quality; one to be desired in every employee.
Brilliantly written, well done.
